Coco pith, also known as coir pith or cocopeat, is a versatile growing medium derived from the dust and short fibers of coconut husks. 

1. How is it made? 

   • High quality coconut husks (from ripe mature and young green coconuts) are procured from coconut farms

   • Husks go through the fiber mill to separate the fiber from the pith. 

   • The raw pith is then collected, washed, dried, and graded to achieve optimal quality coir pith.

   • Quality checks are performed to ensure pith has attained optimal EC and pH values.

   • Coir pith is then bagged and stored to be used for a variety of applications​​

2. Composition:

   • Coco pith consists of the fine dust particles and fibers extracted from the outer husk of coconuts.

   • There are two types of coir fibers:

     • Brown coir: Obtained from mature, ripe coconuts. It is stronger but less flexible.

     • White fibers: Derived from pre-ripe coconuts. They are more flexible but less robust.

   • Coconut coir used for gardening and hydroponics is brown coir, which undergoes further processing after initial harvesting.
